Organizational Strategy
I've watched organizations grow too fast and crack under the weight. I've also seen grassroots initiatives stay small because they're terrified of losing what makes them special. Growth doesn't have to mean selling out—but it does require being honest about what you're actually building.
I help organizations scale without losing their soul.
I founded a grassroots organization, led it for 14 years, then built the infrastructure to sustain it beyond me. I founded another national organization and learned what it takes to build something that can actually weather transitions, funding shifts, and leadership changes. I know the difference between growth that serves the mission and growth that just looks good on paper.
I work with organizations on:
Scaling that doesn't break trust — Growing from grassroots to sustainable without losing the relationships and community voice that made you effective in the first place. This isn't about getting bigger for bigger's sake; it's about building infrastructure that supports the work.
Funding and growth planning that's realistic — Aligning programs, budgets, and partnerships so you're not constantly scrambling. I help you figure out what growth actually costs, what's worth investing in, and how to have honest conversations with funders about what's sustainable versus what sounds good in a grant proposal.
Community engagement that isn't performative — Moving beyond advisory boards that never get listened to and "community input" sessions that are really just rubber stamps. I help organizations build real accountability structures, share decision-making power, and actually change based on what you hear.
Culture work that addresses the real problems — When your staff is quietly job-searching or you've got tension you can't name, we dig into what's actually happening. This includes leadership alignment, decision-making clarity, and figuring out if your stated values match how you actually operate.
I'm not here to hand you a strategic plan that sits on a shelf. I partner with you to figure out what's essential, what's working, and what needs to change—even when (especially when) the answer is uncomfortable.
